You probably have heard about the proposed cement kiln in Dorchester. The Howe ISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution opposing this action based on the fact that we currently have 2 schools located within 5 miles of the proposed plant, and the environmental impact could negatively affect our students. We also have 4 other school sites dedicated for future construction ranging from 2-4 miles from the proposed plant.
Please see the attached flyer for details on why we are opposed to this. I would encourage you to voice your opposition and attend the March 25 public meeting referenced in the flyer.

One last reminder for second-chance device insurance! If you forgot to purchase device insurance last fall, you have a second chance to purchase our protection plan! This will cover any damage for the rest of the 2023-2024 school year. All payments MUST be made online through LINQ Connect- our lunch money portal. Go to www.howeisd.net/ipp for more information.

FAQ's
1. If I purchased Device Insurance at the beginning of the school year (August/September 2023), do I have to purchase it again?
No you do not need to purchase device protection again. This is only for students who did not elect to get coverage at the beginning of the year
2. Can I pay my $25 payment at the front office?
No, you can only pay for device insurance online through LINQ connect (lunch money portal).
3. What does my $25 cover?
It covers all accidental damage and 50% of the cost if your device is lost. Only pay 30% of the cost if stolen! That's a savings of over $200!
