Federal & State Programs
Title I (School Improvement) is a program designed to help those students targeted as most at risk of failing. Howe Elementary and Howe Middle School are school-wide Title I campuses that provides supplemental academic services to identified students through small group instruction, tutoring, the after school program and summer school.
Title II Part A (Teacher/Principal Training and Recruitment) is a program to keep teachers and principals current in the best available, scientifically researched educational practices through ongoing, quality staff development. Class size reduction is also funded through Title IIA.
Title III (Language Instruction for Limited English Proficient and Immigrant Students) is a program to develop and implement new language instruction programs for students with limited English skills as determined by an LPAC (Language Proficiency Assessment Committee).
