"Educating the Hope of Tomorrow"

Creating the Flipped Classroom in 4 Easy Steps

Create a virtual classroom using a simple tool such as the Schoolwires web portal. You can create instructions for using the Schoolwires poratl and upload your student roster. If this is your first time teaching online, you will want to be sure you attend some of the technology departments "Classroom Web Site" Workshops."

Record your lecture in a format that students will be able to access. Create your lecture in 5-7 minute chunks. You can also provide notes that accompany the video. Use your iPad2 camera and microphone and the low cost iPad app called "Explain Everything" at a cost of only $2.99.

Show your students how this new model will work. Make sure that they can access your virtual classroom and play the videos. If you are using additional resources such as notes, show students how to access and how they compliment your video. This is a big change for you and for them, so be sure that you all understand how it works.

Now that you will have more time in class with your students, you need to plan how to use the time! Include discussions, guided practice times, hands-on activities and group activities. This is your time to work directly with individual students and small groups. This is especially important for differentiated instruction.
