Chapter 4 Lessons 5-6, 8-9 Vocabulary
1. Equivalent Fractions – fractions that name the same answer
2. Simplest Form – when the only common factor of the numerator and denominator is 1
3. Proper Fraction – has a numerator that is less than its denominator (ex: 3/8)
4. Improper Fraction – has a numerator that is greater than or equal to its denominator (ex: 11/8)
5. Mixed Number – shows the sum of a whole number and a proper fraction (ex: 2 ½)
6. Least Common Denominator (LCD) – the least common multiple of their denominators
7. Terminating Decimal – a decimal that stops, or terminates
8. Repeating Decimal – repeats the same digit or group of digits; a bar is drawn over the digits that repeat
Order of Operations:
1. Do all in parentheses first
2. Do all work with exponents
3. Multiply or Divide in order from Left to Right
4. Add or Subtract in order from Left to Right
