Chapter 4 Lessons 1-4 and Lesson 7
1. Divisible – a whole number is divisible by a second whole number if the first number can be divided by the second number with a remainder of 0
2. Even Number – any whole number that ends with a 0, 2, 4, 6, 8
3. Odd Number – any whole number that ends with a 3, 5, 7, 9
4. Exponent – tells how many times a number, or base is used as a factor
5. Base – when a number is written in exponential form, the number that is used as a factor (the bigger number)
6. Power – a number that can be expressed using an exponent
7. Factor – a whole number that divides another whole number with a remainder of 0
8. Composite Number – a whole number greater than 1 with more than two factors
9. Prime Number – a whole number with exactly two factors, 1 and the whole number
10. Prime Factorization – writing a composite number as the product of prime numbers
11. Common Factor – a factor that two or more numbers share
12. Greatest Common Factor (GCF) – the greatest factor shared by all of the numbers you are comparing
13. Multiple – the product of the number and any nonzero whole number
14. Common Multiple – a multiple shared by two or more numbers
15. Least Common Multiple (LCM) – the smallest number that is a multiple of both numbers
Order of Operations:
1. Do all in parentheses first
2. Do all work with exponents
3. Multiply or Divide in order from Left to Right
4. Add or Subtract in order from Left to Right
